We are pleased to announce that Katy Jones (2020 Australian Optimist Girls Squad Coach) And Conrad Byrt (Australian Sailing 2021 Queensland Coach of the Year) will be the Team QLD coaches for the 2022 Musto Australian Optimist Championships.
Taking two coaches will allow on water support and coaching across both the Open and Intermediate fleets. Included in the coaching and regatta support is:
- 2 day pre-regatta training camp at George’s River Sailing Club for the sailors to familiarise themselves with the conditions and venue.
- Assistance with registration
- On-shore briefing and debriefing (including protests if necessary!)
- On water coaching and support
- Assistance getting between the club and the racing area (combination of strong tidal flow with light winds can make towing necessary)
Coaching is self funded with the all the costs of two coaches being evenly shared amongst all the sailors.
Given the per sailor costs are dependent on the number of sailors being coached we are unable to provide a definitive cost at this stage.
We are expecting the cost to be in the range of $550 to $750 per sailor for the 8 days and we can confirm the cost will not exceed $1,000.
In order to keep the cost as affordable as possible we will look to fill any spare coaching slots with sailors from other states. This will happen after Team QLD sailors are given the opportunity to sign up.
We are looking for a $500 deposit to be paid by 5pm Monday 20th December. Your spot will only be confirmed once payment is recieved.
